Inu Hariko Puppy

Inu Hariko Puppy

Dogs, in Japanese folklore, as well as many other cultures, are symbols of protection and loyalty. They also have the ability to recognize demons and evil spirits (and other animals such as kitsune and tanuki) in human form, and can protect their family from these entities. From this belief, Inu Hariko was born.

Traditionally, these dog figures were made of paper mache using a technique called “hariko” and given as gifts to children and expecting mothers to act as a symbol of protection for for easy child birth.

This Inu Hariko, much like his predecessors, is an excellent companion, and continues this traditional symbolism in a softer and more cuddly form.

We wish you many happy adventures with your new friend!
